Many Academy business consultants will hold a Masters degree in Business Administration or will gain one while working with the Academy of Business Strategy.
Academy business consultants will also have achieved a recognised consulting qualification.
All business consultants will have achieved either the Academy of Business Strategy Post-Graduate Certified Professional Consultant (CPC), or the Post-Graduate Diploma in Professional Consulting (DPC).
The Academy qualifications, (CPC) and (DPC), are established benchmarks for quality consulting.
They give an indication that a professional consulting service has been developed and established and they will be operational within a clearly defined target sector.
Practical consulting qualifications are now a standard requirement for business consultants operating in the USA and this is now becoming the case in Europe as well.
The Academy also has a number of Associates of the Academy of Business Strategy (AABS) who operate independently and provide outsourcing services, such as interim management, project management, non-executive directors and general management consulting services.
However, not all experience is beneficial and the Academy of Business Strategy measures experience in terms of quality rather than quantity.
Specific experience is a must to have the right range of core skills to succeed as a business management consultant.
This experience has to have specific relevance to the consulting service in relation to industry, geography, culture, client products and services.
The consultant also needs to have good interpersonal skills, the ability to motivate rather than to create doubt and the ability to think laterally.
A successful independent consultant is a valuable asset to any internal organisation and well worth investing in.
Successful business management consultants generally develop tangible and credible services featuring their core skills and experience.
Experience is something that adds substance to a consulting service while it is being developed. It is not enough on its own though, it must come with a tangible service.
In order to become a successful business management consultant with the Academy of Business Strategy, candidates need to have a useful blend of academic and professional qualifications as well as experience that has specific relevance to the business consulting service.
